Loc Journey w/ Rebbie Cam

We sat down with Rebbie Cam to learn more about her Loc Journey of 17 years. Below is what she had to say:
How long have you had your locs?
17 years
Do you remember what inspired you to grow locs?
My loc journey started when I was 3 years old, so it was technically not my decision, however, I have never dreamed of my hair being any different. I have always loved my locs and I take pride in my hair, it has grown with me.
What's the most important lesson you've learned along your hair journey?
To be gentle with my hair and care for it appropriately. To keep on top of maintenance as slacking can make a huge difference to its appearance. Also to be proud of my hair as I am aware I look different (something I learned when I was in school).
What advice would you give to a person that wants to loc their hair?
I would probably say... It's important to put in the time your hair needs. Its a commitment that you'll surely love, so care for it as such. It's also important to care for your roots, oil your scalp regularly as dry scalp can cause your hair to break.
Do you have any hair tips you'd like to share?
You can use apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair after a wash, it helps to reduce/remove buildup.
What does professionalism mean to you?
Professionalism means to me, to be proud of what I do and take my time to ensure my work displays the skills I obtain. To be professional and always keep learning.
What's something you enjoy doing or what's one thing you're passionate about?
I enjoy my exercise, I ensure to commit to exercising around 4 times a week whether that is gym training or just going for a lengthy walk. I am also passionate about music, listening, dancing, singing, I always find it uplifting.
Lastly, is there anything else you'd like to share with us?
Since I've left college I have really found it important and humbling to keep working on myself, and to be myself, to spend more time with family and friends and to keep maintain skills I wish to obtain in the future. I have also learned to trust the timing in my life, as no one's journey is the same.
